A secret identity, a wicked plot, and one of the bravest queens who ever lived! Esther was an orphan girl raised by her cousin Mordecai — and nobody in the Persian palace knew she was Jewish, not even after the king set a crown on her head. But when a royal advisor named Haman schemed to harm her people, Esther had to choose: stay safe and quiet, or risk everything to speak up for them. Esther's courage doesn't begin in the throne room — it begins on her knees, with an entire community fasting and praying beside her. That's a gentle counterweight to the “just believe in yourself” message our kids hear everywhere: the bravery in this story comes from asking God for help and letting other people carry it with you. You might talk together about a time your family faced something scary, and who you asked to pray alongside you.
