Secret Mission: Mercy

Today, adventurers, you're not getting a story. You're getting a MISSION. Your assignment is to show mercy to others. Four missions (plus a bonus one that's the hardest of them all) send you after the kid with no lunch, the new kid clutching his backpack, the friend who's been out sick for two weeks, and the person everybody forgot. Then comes the classified part, straight from Jesus in Matthew, chapter 25 — and it changes who you were really helping the whole time.

For grown-ups
The corporal works of mercy can sound like a list to memorize, but this episode hands them to your child as four ordinary Tuesday moments — a kid with no lunch, a new face at the classroom door, a friend in the hospital, someone who's been sent away and forgotten. The turn at the end is the one that stays with all of us: Christ receives every act of mercy as done to Himself, especially the ones aimed at the person we'd rather avoid. If you want to keep it going this week, ask your child who they had to look at twice.
