Through the Roof

What would you do if your best friend needed help and the door was completely blocked? In this episode we travel to a crowded little house in Capernaum, where four friends do something absolutely wild — they climb onto the roof, dig a hole right through it, and lower their paralyzed friend down to Jesus! But before Jesus heals the man's legs, He does something no one expected: He heals his heart first. It's a big, funny, wonderful story about how much Jesus cares about what's inside of us — and about being the kind of friend who never gives up. Based on Mark 2:1–12 and Luke 5:17–26.

For grown-ups
When the friends tore open the roof, Jesus responded first to their faith and to the man's deepest need — forgiveness — before healing his body. It's a beautiful reminder that God sees past what's on the outside straight to the heart, and that we're called to carry the people we love to Him, even when it's hard or messy. This week, ask your children who they could "carry to Jesus" through a prayer or an act of kindness.

Love Your Neighbor

A very smart lawyer once asked Jesus that exact question, hoping for an easy answer he could check off his list — and instead Jesus told him a story about a dusty road, a man left hurting in the dirt, and three travelers who each had to decide whether to stop.
